Four Touchpoints Across the Day

The Wilder Stress Ritual is built around four anchor moments, each addressing a different facet of the stress response. This is the protocol our De Stress Ritual Bundle is built around, designed for a 3-week cycle.

Your questions, answered

Can I take adaptogens with medication?

Some adaptogens may interact with antidepressants, immunosuppressants and thyroid medication. Always consult your prescribing doctor.

How long should I take the tinctures for?

Three weeks on, one week off. After three months of intermittent use, take a longer break of two weeks.

Will adaptogens make me feel drowsy?

No. Adaptogens are not sedatives. They support the body's natural balance: more energy when needed, easier rest when not.

Are they suitable in pregnancy?

No. Most adaptogens are not recommended in pregnancy or breastfeeding. Flower essences and most teas (excluding Sunrise Tea) are suitable; please check each product page.

Can I combine adaptogens with caffeine?

Yes, but caffeine itself is a stress on the system. Most clinic patients find they naturally want less coffee once the adaptogens are working.

Signs Your Nervous System Needs Support

We are wired for acute stress: short bursts of intense alertness followed by long recovery. Modern life inverts this. The acute response runs continuously at lower amplitude, with no recovery phase. The signs Rachel sees most often in clinic include sleep disturbance (particularly waking between 2 and 4am), skin reactivity that wasn't there before, digestive complaints arriving in clusters, a short emotional fuse, difficulty concentrating, tightness in the jaw or shoulders, and the cycle of caffeine in the morning and alcohol in the evening that restores neither energy nor sleep.

Adaptogens, How They Work

The naturopathic approach to stress is not stress-removal. We cannot remove the demands of modern life. We can restore the body's resilience to those demands. This is the territory of adaptogens, herbs used for centuries to support the body's adaptive capacity. Adaptogens do not sedate. They do not stimulate. They modulate. Taken consistently, they support the adrenals and the HPA axis, the body's stress regulation system, restoring the recovery phase that modern life has eroded. Our most prescribed: Ashwagandha, Tulsi (Holy Basil), Astragalus, Reishi and Siberian Ginseng.

What to Expect in the First Three Weeks

Adaptogens work cumulatively, not acutely. Unlike caffeine or alcohol, you do not feel them on day one. In the first week, the shifts are subtle and often show up first in sleep, even before stress feels lower. In the second week, the emotional fuse begins to lengthen: reactions that would have escalated do not, energy through the day feels more stable. By week three, the change is often more noticeable to people around you than to yourself. Less reactivity, more capacity. Take a one-week break before continuing for another three-week cycle.

Beyond the Products: Daily Anchors

Three lifestyle anchors quietly determine more about your stress baseline than any tincture. Morning light: ten minutes of outdoor light within an hour of waking, the single most consistent intervention for circadian and cortisol regulation. Breath practice: five minutes of slow exhalation breathing daily, anything that lengthens the exhale activates the parasympathetic system. Boundaries on inputs: one hour per day without screens, news or others' demands, because the nervous system needs spaces of unstimulation to recover.
