Cycle-Aware Adjustments

For cycling women, the Female Support Ritual can be calibrated to the phases of the menstrual cycle. For perimenopausal and post-menopausal women, the cycle structure no longer applies; the daily protocol becomes consistent across the month, with additions for hot flushes, sleep disturbance or mood changes as they arise.

Your questions, answered

Can I take Balancing Harmony Drops on the contraceptive pill?

We do not recommend this combination without consulting a herbalist or doctor. Vitex (Chaste tree) influences hormonal signalling and may interact with hormonal contraception.

When should I start the protocol if I am trying to conceive?

Most women begin three to six months before active conception, then transition to a pregnancy-safe protocol once conceiving. Always consult a qualified practitioner during the conception phase.

Is it safe in perimenopause?

Yes. Many of the herbs in our female ritual are particularly well suited to the perimenopausal transition.

Can I use it postnatally?

After breastfeeding ends. Some of the herbs are not suitable during lactation.

How does it compare to HRT?

It does not compare. HRT replaces hormones. Naturopathic support helps the body regulate its own. They serve different needs and can sometimes complement each other under professional guidance.

Signs of Hormonal Imbalance

In her clinic, Rachel sees women presenting most often with a recurring cluster of symptoms: cycle irregularity (length, flow or timing); PMS symptoms that disrupt the days before bleeding; breast tenderness that exceeds the cycle norm; cyclical mood shifts that feel out of proportion; sleep disturbance, particularly in the luteal phase or perimenopause; hot flushes and night sweats; skin changes (acne, dryness, sensitivity) linked to cycle phases; low libido; difficulty conceiving or sustaining pregnancy. If two or more are familiar, the Female Support Ritual may help.

The Naturopathic View on Hormones

The naturopathic approach treats hormones not as isolated chemistry but as a whole-system signal. The liver clears excess hormones. The gut influences oestrogen recycling through the microbiome. The adrenals make progesterone precursors and step in when ovarian function declines. The nervous system regulates the hypothalamic-pituitary-ovarian axis. Support the whole system, and many hormonal symptoms resolve as a byproduct. This is why our female support protocol does not address hormones in isolation; it supports the underlying systems that produce, regulate and clear them.

What to Expect Over Three Months

Hormonal support is slow medicine. The female endocrine system rebalances over cycles, not days. In the first month, the shifts are subtle: PMS symptoms may soften, sleep in the luteal phase often improves first. In the second month, cycle regularity often begins to improve, skin changes linked to cycle may settle. By the third month, most users describe the bigger shifts: more stable energy through the cycle, more emotional resilience, more predictable patterns. Continue for a minimum of three months for meaningful effect.

When to Seek Professional Support

Heavy bleeding, missed periods of more than three months outside pregnancy or menopause, severe pain, breast changes, or any new symptom that does not fit a familiar pattern, requires medical assessment first. Hormonal symptoms can mask serious underlying issues, and these must be ruled out before pursuing herbal support.
